My blog: Practicing Out Loud

The best way to stay in touch with my work is my blog on Substack, Practicing Out Loud. It includes essays, poems, and photograph all grappling with the intersection of Zen training and modern life.

From the back cover: In Vow of Aliveness, Ravi Mishra explores how our modern, "default world" disconnects us from our intrinsic vitality through distraction, busyness, and validation-seeking. Growing up in Silicon Valley, Mishra embarked on an entrepreneurial path before college graduation. When his startup failed, a series of chance encounters led him on a transformative journey – from meditation retreats in the Himalayas to protest movements in Egypt, from Burning Man to a Zen Buddhist monastery where he now spends a month each year.

Drawing on nearly two decades of Zen practice, he shares stories of resisting disconnection by embracing what makes us come alive. Through modern frameworks and practical rituals, "Vow of Aliveness" lays out a vision for how we can learn to trust the whispers of our Inner World – and follow them to a life beyond.
